Peru is the 2nd largest producer of copper, silver and zinc in the world, 8th largest producer of gold in the world, 3rd largest global producer of lead, 4th largest global producer of tin, 5th world's largest producer of boron and 4th world's largest producer of molybdenum. There are also vast resources of gas and oil.
In terms of foreign trade the largest exports of the country are copper and ores, iron ores, zinc ores, gold, lead, tin, boron, molybdenum, flour, fruit, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes, grapes, blueberyym quinoa, artichoke, asparagus, coffee and cocoa, potatoes, sugarcane, rice, bananas, maize, cassava, chicken meat, fish.
Imports of Peru consist of electrical machinery and equipment, cars and vehicles, electric conductors, consumer goods, medicaments.
Primary trading partners of Peru are Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, China, the USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Switzerland, India.
The GDP of Peru grew by 13.3% in 2021 and amounted to USD 224,7 billion. Tertiary sector makes up 54.5% of the GDP of the country, followed by industry sector at 30% and agriculture at 7.7%.
